Discovery & Shape

When I took part in the intensive UX Design bootcamp run by Le Laptop, I focused my learning on design thinking methods applied to the conception of digital services. Below, I imagine the mobile application that could have resulted from this bootcamp.

Brief : SNCF Connect wants to create a new micro-trip offer to win back passengers who are turning to the car.

Business Challenge : Introduce a new service that will win the loyalty of customers who prefer to use the car for their regional journeys.

Problematic : ‘How can we help our user get a bike to the location of their choice?’

During training, through user interviews and collaborative workshops, we converged on a solution aligned with user expectations and SNCF objectives:
A bike rental service integrated into the SNCF Connect app.

Through prototyping and user testing, we carried out 4 user tests with concrete scenarios: reserving a bike, understanding the offer, personalising the rental, managing the return.

At the end of the course, I was able to put together a learning package based on concrete user feedback.

Design Conception

Based on the issues and user feedback gathered during the training course, I completed the exercise by re-creating the SNCF connect design system and prototyping in high fidelity the bike hire service integrated into the application.

Style guide : Enhanced with the new green colour dedicated to the hire service, with abicycle icon as a visual recognition element.
Group together the rental services, bike and car, in one place.
Tailored to the user : Enter the user's height to ensure that the bike is properly adjusted before removal.
Clarity : A QR code to simplify collection at the station desk
Transparency : Indicate prices for each item. Price details remains accessible on the booking page once the order has been placed.

Results & Improvments

There's no need to worry about how to get around once you've arrived - just hire a bike at your arrival station!

Perfect for a day trip to another city, or a weekend exploring the countryside ☀️

How will the solution evolve?
- Offer to link your hire to an existing trip, so you can hire a bike more quickly.
- Concentrate the service in towns that do not have a self-service bike hire scheme.
